A sorceress of the New World who crossed an ocean on the strength of a vision: an eyeless thing walking through a market, cattle falling to dust, and against it a light from the east, bloody and broken, but still bringing the light. She found the broken light-man in a ritual chamber in San Cristóbal on the night everything went wrong, and has not left the company since. Her first sight of Axel was the wolf. She stayed anyway.
She channels an ancestor who was a much larger warrior than she is. Visibly: a glowing shape around her small frame, a club that has cracked a sergeant's guard and worse. She rarely sits in chairs. She sees Ruprett, the second person ever to do so, and the things Ruprett answers to have noticed: in the vision they call her the oracle, and claim she will not be a problem.
The morning after the chase, standing over what the night had left of the company's lord, grey and shaking under a horse blanket, she delivered her verdict on Axel, four words and complete:
The beast has eaten. The man has not.
They are wrong about her being a problem. The hooded figure saw her watching. Ruprett did not. That asymmetry may be the most valuable thing the company owns.
